Road construction is a necessary evil. Although it contributes to a city’s transportation functionality and overall attractiveness, it can make commuters’ lives a bit more hectic to say the least. What you might not realize, though, is that construction can greatly impact how small businesses promote themselves and maintain a steady source of clientele. Indeed, it is quite problematic when traffic is deterred to such an extent that customers don’t even know how to get there. So during this holiday shopping season, follow our construction blog series and help support small business affected by construction.
We’ll give you the details, the deals and the directions.
As there are numerous areas and small businesses affected by construction, we’ll feature the most heavily business populated sections of Topeka & Shawnee County that are currently experiencing construction. The following small businesses were featured based on location and their desire to be included.
We begin with 21st and Wanamaker.
With a charming punk rock vibe, Looking Glass Tattoo & Gallery offers a welcoming atmosphere and professional staff that provides quality care and artistry with every tattoo. Owner/artist Judith White and her husband and manager Danny guarantee an experience that is personalized, clean and safe. Their lobby and gallery features an eclectic mix of artwork (paintings, drawings, photography, etc.), created by the three full-time tattoo artists, including Judith, and Danny as well. Aside from the usual plastic-lined chairs and tables, the studio is adorned with art; contains multiple TVs; showcases a decadent candy table; and features an extensive movie library and music catalogue. As Judith told each of the artists when they started, “If you’re going to hurt somebody, mark them, you better respect them and make it a worthwhile experience.” Judith also promotes the healing aspects of tattooing as she and her staff have aided in mastectomy recovery, scar cover up and a variety of other cosmetic recovery tattoos.
Saving up for a big tattoo scheme? Looking Glass has just the deal for you. On Small Business Saturday, Looking Glass Tattoo & Gallery will take $20 off every $100 you spend in gift certificates.
