It's almost time for November's First Friday Art Walk. Are you ready?
If you've been thinking about participating but never made the trip to Topeka, Kansas for the first Friday of the month, here are three unique things you can experience in November.
Alice C. Sabatini Gallery, Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library (1515 SW 10th) is pleased to bring you the Printed Image 6, which features the newest, most exciting works in contemporary American printmaking. This national juried printmaking competition is sponsored by The Friends of the Library. Artists from all over the country competed. A total of 91 artists from 29 states entered 256 prints. The field was narrowed to 48 prints by this year’s juror, Stephen Goddard, Associate Director, Senior Curator of Works on Paper, and Professor of Art History at the Spencer Museum of Art. Printed Image 6 opens Friday, Nov. 4. Return Saturday, Nov. 12 from 2-4 p.m. for the awards ceremony, where Goddard will give a gallery talk.
SOHO Interiors (3129 SW Huntoon Street) presents SOHO Gala: Christmas. Join us for our Festive Open House with 12 Hours of Holiday Cheer. Our featured Artist and Children's Author, Traci Osborn, debuts her new work "10 not so Snoozing MONSTERS" with a book signing, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Lynch will perform a live Acoustic Holiday set 6:30-8:30 p.m. Savvy Demonstrations of Original Peanut Brittle at 10 a.m., Simple+Beautiful modern tablescape at 1 p.m., and Dress Up Your Bed at 3 p.m. to create a designer look for your guests. Create your Wish List- from candles to couches for easy gift-giving while enjoying refreshments, door prizes and specials on home furnishings.
Plaza Glow, Westboro Mart's turning on of the lights, will host free horse drawn carriage rides, pictures with Santa, carolers, food trucks and so much more! Join us for 12 Hours of Holiday Cheer this First Friday at SOHO Interiors. 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Glaciers Edge Winery (1636 SE 85th Street - Wakarusa): Spend your FFAW at the winery. Featured artist will be Roxanne Ebberts, from Colorfields displaying a sampling of hand blown art glass and holiday creations! Enjoy new wines and slushie by the pour or a bottle and watch the sunset from the porch or patio. Picnics, take-out and snacks are welcome to enjoy along with your choice of wine or slushie! (Only alcohol produced at Glaciers Edge Winery is able to be consumed on the property; guests consuming alcohol must be at least 21 years old.) Find Glaciers Edge on the south side of Topeka, 1.7 miles east of Topeka Blvd. on 85th St. Partake 4-8:30 p.m.
