As the weather warms up, it’s just too nice to exercise in a stuffy gym! Plus, you don’t have to worry about finding a “gym-on-the-go” in Topeka. The city is your playground.

Here are some local spots to keep you in tip-TOP shape during your time in #TopCity.

Nothing can take your breath away like stairs. There are plenty of them outside of the Expocentre, which is conveniently located next to the Capitol Plaza, if that is where you are staying. If it’s raining you can still reap the benefits of stair stepping and fresh air in one of the downtown parking garages. With varying numbers of floors, you can choose the level that suits your needs.

If you prefer inclines, Skyline Park, wraps around Burnett’s Mound. The mile long journey will lead you to an amazing view of the city. Have you heard of the legend of Burnett’s Mound?

Along the trails south of Cedar Crest you will find outdoor exercise equipment, enjoy the beauty of governor’s mansion and surrounding land. Did you know the Kansas governor’s mansion is the smallest governor’s residence, but the home sits on the largest plot of land in the United States?

If you enjoy extreme cycling, Topeka Metro Bikes recommends these hills around town. "Puke Hill" south of 93rd and Shawnee Heights Rd, Kaw River State Park, 21st Street east of Wittenberg, 2800 block of S. MacVicar and Burnett's Mound.

If you have a large group of friends, gather the team and head to Gage Park. On the south end of the park, east of the Discovery Center is an open kickball field. Don’t forget to bring a ball though!
