Visit Topeka is pleased to bring you the third anual Kansas Mariachi Festival on Saturday, Sept. 16. Topeka Performing Arts Center (TPAC) is the perfect location for this annual musical celebration, commemorating Mexican independence. Join in beginning at 4 p.m. and you're sure to feel the rhythm. For those of you new to this festival, here are five things you should be on the lookout for:
1) Car Show
Are you a hot rod aficionado? Then be sure to check out the car show featured outside of TPAC from 4-6 p.m. This is a new addition this year and sure to add to the fun.
2) Food Trucks and Vendors
Come hungry and ready to shop! There will be food trucks and vendors aplenty during the pre-concert activities, 4-6 p.m., and at the fiesta, 8-11 p.m.
3) Did We Mention Fiesta?
This block party will have everything from food trucks, to live music, to a tequila garden (cash and cards accepted for drink tickets)!
4) The Taste of Mexico (Tequila) Garden
Beer garden? Not today. Enjoy a variety of tequilas, including Del Maguey, Monte Alban, Tequila 7 Leagues and more.
5) La Musica!
We saved the best for last. Savor the musical styling of Fatima Hernandez and Mariachi Tradicion de Jalisco during the concert inside TPAC from 6-8 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person if purchased at the TPAC box office (Monday-Friday 11 a.m.- 6 p.m.) and will be available on the day of the event. Rhythm of Oakland will also perform live at the fiesta directly following the concert.
