The Clothesline Project returns this year, displaying t-shirts decorated by survivors, allies, and those who have lost loved ones to violence. Attendees are encouraged to create a shirt at home or at the event. Shirts and fabric markers will be available for individuals to create one on-site. The purpose of the project is to increase awareness of the impact of violence and abuse, to honor a survivor's strength to continue, and to provide another avenue for them to courageously break the silence that often surrounds their experience.

The program begins at 6:30 PM with live music and speakers, Alexis Smith (Miss Kansas), Michelle McCormick (Kansas Coaliton Against Sexual and Domestic Violence), and Kyle Roggenkamp ( CEO of Ballard Center, Lawrence, KS). The evening will end at 7:30 with the lighting of the candles. Our candlelight vigil is a way to remember the victims of relationship violence, to honor the survivors, and to act to create change.
