Te Deum: The Forbidden Music of Salamone Rossi

“Forbidden Music of Salamone Rossi” explores the radical vision of a Renaissance Jewish composer who brought polyphony into Hebrew sacred music for the first time. A court musician in Italy, Rossi wrote alongside Catholic contemporaries while challenging long-held Jewish liturgical traditions. Framed by music of his contemporaries, Monteverdi and Palestrina, as well as modern Jewish choral works, this program illuminates a bold moment of tension between tradition, innovation, and faith. Tickets available at the door.
