Truman and Civil Rights

In honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Brown v. Board of Education National Historical Park reflects of the struggle and perseverance of Black Americans throughout history.

In collaboration with the Harry S Truman Presidential Library and Museum, the National Park Service is exploring the relationship of President Harry S Truman and the desegregation movement. During April and May, stop by Brown v. Board of Education National Historical Park and explore this temporary exhibit before heading to the Truman Library in Kansas City, where you can see the traveling exhibit OPENING THE VAULT: THE STORY OF US, an exhibition of some of the most significant documents in US history including the Louisiana Purchase, the Joint Resolution Proposing the Thirteenth Amendment, the Judgement in Plessy v. Ferguson, the Brown v. Board of Education decision, the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
