Marching Band Application for Consideration

The 29th Annual Miracle on Kansas Avenue Parade, presented by Giant Communications, will be bigger and more spectacular than ever this year! Ten marching bands from across the state of Kansas will be invited to participate in a KSHSAA approved event and will compete for ratings. The competition will be scored by three professionals, using the KSHSAA marching band parade rubric.

The parade celebrates the holiday season and provides a fantastic opportunity for high school bands to showcase their talents in a competitive and festive environment! It will be televised across northeast Kansas on WIBW-TV Channel 13, ensuring that even those who cannot attend in person can enjoy the spectacle.

Miracle on Kansas Avenue Parade

Applications must be submitted by the band's director.

Application deadline is Friday, October 18. Bands will be notified by Friday, October 25.

Things to keep in mind:

  1. No Santa or Mrs. Claus - we wouldn't want to confuse the little kiddos with imposters, would we?
  2. All marching bands must include lights (ideally each individual would have lights) so no photographers accidently get your bad side!
  3. Open flames are not allowed on entries unless contained and approved.
  4. Confetti guns and confetti devices are not allowed.
  5. Candy and any other items cannot be thrown, but can be handed out by those walking along the parade route perimeter. Please drop directly in front of viewers so no one comes out into the road.
