The City of Topeka Flag
The previous flag was adopted in 1977, designed by a local Boy Scout group. To reflect Topeka’s changing identity, development, and opportunities, the city decided that it was time for a new flag. Forge, Topeka’s young professional group, formed a local flag-design contest allowing local residents to help choose the new flag.
To pay homage to the original flag, the new flag adopts the green and gold coloring, which represent Topeka's nickname of the "Golden City". The city seal depicted in the original flag remains the official seal of Topeka.
