Using artifacts from the Kansas Militia and National Guard, the Museum presents the history of the volunteer forces in the state from 1854 to the present. An outdoor park displays over 30 military vehicles and aircraft. Established in 1997, the Museum of the Kansas National Guard offers over 120 exhibits, a reference library and archives, a gift shop, and guided public tours. Its purpose is to preserve the military heritage of the citizen-soldiers of the Kansas Army and Air National Guard and the 35th Infantry Division.
