Topeka Major Sports Facilities
Providing the ultimate in versatility and a seating capacity of 7,000, the Kansas Expocentre’s five venues are routinely transformed from concrete shells into just about anything. The Expocentre is also home to the Topeka Pilots NAHL hockey team and was the proud host of the 2011 Robertson Cup National Championship Tournament.
Hummer Sports Park
Opened in 2003, Hummer Sports Park is a state-of-the-art facility that features a 6,000 seat football stadium, a 2,000 seat soccer stadium, an eight-lane track, two baseball fields, and two softball fields. The 1,000-seat natatorium has a 50-meter Olympic-size pool and offers a warm-up and warm-down pool, swimmer crash area, locker rooms and additional meeting space.
Sunflower Soccer Complex
Home of the biannual Governor’s Cup Soccer Invitational is the Sunflower Soccer Complex. Commonly referred to as “the best natural grass fields in the state of Kansas,” this 108 acre facility features 11 full-size playing fields on 45 acres of land and 750 parking stalls.
Baseball & Softball options
Topeka’s numerous softball and baseball facilities include Rueger Park, Lake Shawnee, Washburn University, Ken Berry Field, Shawnee North and Felker Park. Rueger Park is a four-diamond softball complex with 300-foot fences, concession stands, restrooms and a second-floor observation deck.
The Bettis Family Sports Complex at Lake Shawnee features six new lighted synthetic turf fields and a lighted multi-purpose field in addition to their existing facilities. Beyond their first-class baseball and softball fields, Lake Shawnee is an outdoor sports lover’s paradise. It offers 410 acres of water for rowing and sailing, a seven-mile walking and biking trail, an 18-hole golf course and a disc golf course.
