Since 1875 the State Archives has preserved the rich heritage of Kansas -- its people and their stories. We invite you to take advantage of our resources, whether you're a researcher, teacher, student, genealogist, or someone interested in Kansas history. From letters written by well-known figures such as John Brown or Carry Nation, to records that bring your family's legacy or house history to light, we have the most comprehensive collection of historical documents in the state. The State Archives are located at the Kansas Historical Society. Hours of Operation: November – February 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Wednesday – Saturday March – October 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday Closed state holidays.
